The KICC Artist Search

 We are currently searching for 7 NATIVE AMERICAN ARTISTS to work with us on our

7 Directions cob classroom canopy.   

The 7 Directions: East, South, West, North, Above, Below, Within

Each artist will be assigned a direction and will collaborate with our team to create the final canopy design and then will sculpt their design using cob.  Each artist will submit design ideas using their own interpretation of the cultural meanings of their direction within their own tribal culture.  Artists may be enrolled tribal members or descendants. 

(Enrollment number not required to qualify)

This project will take place in Juneau, WI starting Friday, July 22nd, 2022.  (date subject to change on short notice) 

All 7 artists will also be asked to contribute their design ideas and embellishments for the rest of the classroom project and will be expected to sign their names to their work and participate in the dedication ceremony when this project is complete.

College art students are encouraged to apply!

Qualified artists will be/have:

  • At least 18 years of age (college students encouraged to apply)

  • Reliable transportation

  • Native American heritage

  • Experience with sculpture (any medium)

  • Willingness to commit to 1 - 2 days/wk, 4 - 6 hrs each day for the duration of the project (approx 12 - 16 wks)

  • Willingness to sign a photo release

  • Willingness to learn
